Harman Motors was among the first workshops in New Zealand to recognise the tuning potential for European cars. We started with Fiat and today we specialise in Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Range Rover, Skoda and Volkswagen. ‘Staged’ tuning for European cars

Modern European cars are frequently detuned at the factory via their software to meet emissions regulations, ensure reliability with variable fuel quality worldwide, and create room for higher-performance variants in the range. This means there is performance left on the table that can be unlocked with staged tuning by Harman Motors.

Each stage builds on the one before in a logical sequence. For example, you can't safely run a Stage 2 tune on a Stage 1 hardware setup, because the software would be pushing components beyond what they can handle. The stages create a clear roadmap for tuning and ensure the tune is always matched to what the hardware on the engine can safely support.

Stage 1

Stage 1 is custom tuning using software that has been specially developed to suit your car. There are no hardware changes. Via the ECU we can alter boost pressure, ignition timing, fuel mapping, and rev limits.

Stage 2

Stage 2 is custom tuning using software plus hardware modifications to the exhaust and intake, and/or pulley changes. Supercharged Euro vehicles for example the Audi 3.0 TFSI respond very well to Harman Motors’s Stage 2 performance upgrades.

Stage 3

Stage 3 is custom tuning software developed to suit turbo or supercharger upgrades. This is a significant performance upgrade that involved heavily upgraded hardware and an ECU tune designed to maximise the absolute performance potential of the vehicle.
